The concept of the apocalypse and the emergence of a new life following it is considered a common and fundamental theme in divine religions. In all holy books, this period is described not only as the absolute end of life, but also as a new beginning for an ideal and utopian life. However, Hollywood cinema, which is today one of the most important and influential global media, presents a completely different image of the future within the framework of the post-apocalyptic genre. The cinematic representations of this genre are mainly based on the dominance of destruction, the collapse of social order, tribal life, intense class conflicts, and life in a constant atmosphere of fear and insecurity. This dark and hopeless image is not only inconsistent with the teachings of divine religions about the era after the advent of the savior, but also redefines fundamental concepts such as salvation, the future of humanity, and civilization in a secular and pessimistic format. This article examines the semantic and ideological gap between these two narratives of the future through a comparative analysis of the religious discourse of the post-apocalyptic era and post-apocalyptic cinematic representations.
